Polished and looking gorgeous!

What do you think?

Tackling more corrosion

My first proper half-term day and I have been fixing more rust on the left sill this time, there was some rust showing which when I sanded it down appeared to only be surface...phew!

This is a picture I took when it got sanded down:

Then, I painted it with Hammerite:

And put a thin layer of filler over and shaped it:

I then decided to shape the right sill:

That should be it for today, I might give it a good wash and a polish and post up some pictures today though. Next is some more rust on the inside of doors.

Dad filled Oliver up with Diesel

Got a pic just before the TAXI arrived on Sunday

On Sunday my dad filled Oliver up with Diesel so we went home in a TAXI and went to the petrol station yesterday to try and syphon the diesel out the tank, into a 25 litre bottle but it didn't work so we decided to get it a tow home and see what we can do. However I forgot the tow rope  . Went into the petrol station the sales people recognised me, I bought a tow rope we attached it to the Volvo and off we went. Listening to Mrs. Robinson on our way out the petrol station. Stylish  .

Excuse the quality of the pic but it was dark and I only took my phone.

Got back and dad got the diesel out with a mattress pump by connecting the inlet pipe to the pipe going to the tank and then it syphoned most of the diesel out, but it was late so we went home because we knew we wouldn't get it running yesterday 'cos the battery died as well. So we'll continue getting the diesel out today and hopefully we'll get Oliver to run today. Watch this space!

More things need doing...

Firstly some before and after pics of the rust repair

Before:
After:

UPDATE: Ive just checked all the points that Rob Jenner told me about solving a wet boot, and I found out that there is water getting in just out every possible place it can so the only thing I will do now is just reseal everything and buy a new Aerial Grommet off eBay and replace that, and save all the major work needed to get a dry boot till the main resto next year.

List of things to do this week

First on the list is the rust on the front right corner of the sill and bottom of wing (surface rust).

Then, I will try and get the water that went in the blower motors out by drilling little holes in the bottom of them.

Thirdly, I will try to put some cut up sponge in the vents to stop moisture going in the boot. Image
Finally, I will try and refit the rear bumper so its closer to the cars body
